Giraffe Omnibed
Giraffe Omnibed
The Giraffe® OmniBed® is a richly-featured neonatal microenvironment that combines the thermal advantages of a double-walled incubator with the access advantages of an open bed radiant warmer. Conversion between an incubator and an open bed warmer happens in seconds with a touch of a button. In either open or closed bed operation, the OmniBed provides precise microprocessor
controlled thermal support. Stress on the infant, staff, and family members is reduced by eliminating the need to transfer the baby between incubators and warmers. Less equipment is now required for caregiving, cleaning, service, and storage. The OmniBed pioneered developmentally appropriate features including the patented Baby Susan™ rotating mattress and internal bed tilt.
• 2 beds in 1: A radiant warmer for babies and an incubator
• Radiant warmer: A body warming device to provide heat to the body. this device helps to maintain the body temperature of the baby and limit the metabolism rate
• Incubator- A neonatal incubator is a device consisting of a rigid box like enclosure in which an infant may be kept in a controlled environment for medical care. Device may include and AC-powered heater, fan to circulate warmed air, a container to add humidity, a control valve through which oxygen may be added, and access ports for nursing care
• The lid of the OmniBed raises up so that lubes, lines, and IV’s may be inserted in the baby. The lid then closes so that the baby can stay warm
• If anything needs to be done to the baby, the lid can be raised again and what ever medical intervention can be done in that same bed
• Keeping the baby in one bed decreases the number of moves of the baby, when you move the baby their temperature drops and they have to use calories to warm their body up versus using the calories to grow. This way babies can focus on growing and not wasting calories to warm up
• Keeps babies warmer and decreases the risk of bleeding
• The OmniBed is like a womb – it is dark and quiet but tubes can come into it providing nutrition and medicine to the baby
